Trump Campaign And The Dissemination of Hacked Material (Mueller Report)

The Trump Campaign showed interest in WikiLeak's releases of hacked materials throughout the summer and fall in the election year. [Black Out]

Introduction - WikiLeaks Obtained the Hacked Materials (Mueller Report: III. B. 3)

In order to expand its interference in the Election, the GRU transferred many of the purloined documents from DNC and the chairman of the Clinton Campaign to WikiLeaks using fictitious online persona (see III. B) to communicate with WikiLeaks through Twitter private messaging (DM - direct message) and through encrypted channels. [Mueller explained: Both the GRU and WikiLeaks sought to hide their communications which made it difficult for the Office to collect all of the communications]

WikiLeaks Expressed Opposition to Hillary

WikiLeaks, and particularly its founder Julian Assange, privately expressed opposition to candidate Clinton well before the first release of stolen documents. [Mueller quoted Assange' 11/15/16 writing to his associates]

3/16/16 - WikiLeaks released a searchable archive of approximately 30,000 Clinton emails that had been obtained through FOIA litigation. WikiLeaks explained the reason for building the searchable archive: '[W]e want this repository to become "the place" to search for background on hillary's
plotting at the state department during 2009-2013. ..................because it may encourage people to send us even more important leaks."

WikiLeaks's First Contact with GRU Fictitious Online Persona:

6/x/16 - DCLeaks persona was used by GRU to ontact WikiLeaks about possible coordination in the release of stolen emails. @dcleaks sent twitter DM to @WikiLeaks: "You announced your organization was preparing to publish more Hillary's emails.........We have some sensitive information too, in particular her financial documents.....What do you think about publish our info at the same moment?"
around the same time: 6/22/16 after [6/15/16 Guccifer 2.0's first releases of stolen DNC documents], @WikiLeaks sent DM to @Guccifer 2.0: "send any new material [stolen from the DNC] here for us to review and it will have a much higher impact than what you are doing."
7/6/16 @WikiLeaks sent DM to @Guccifer 2.0 again: "if you have anything Hillary related we want it...because the DNC is approaching and she will solidify Bernie supporters behind her after...................so conflict between Bernie and Hillary is interesting."

GRU's Transfer of Stolen Materials to WikiLeaks

7/x/16: GRU used a Guccifer 2.0 email account to send WikiLeaks an email with the subject "big archive" and an encrypted attachment with the name "wk dnc link I .txt.gpg."
GRU used a Guccifer 2.0 Twitter account to sent WikiLeaks an encrypted file.

7/18/16: @WikiLeaks sent DM to @Guccifer 2.0 to confirm that it had "the 1 Gb or so archive" and would make a release of the stolen documents "this week".

7/22/16: [3 days before DNC] WikiLeaks released over 20,000 emails and other documents stolen from the DNC computer networks.

9/15/16: @dcleaks wrote to @WikiLeaks: "....................Am trying to reach out to you via your secured chat but getting no response. I've got something that might interest you."

9/15/16: account@guccifer_2 sent @dcleaks_ a direct message (DM): [the first known contact between the personas] During subsequent contacts, Guccifer 2.0 persona informed DCLeaks that WikiLeaks was trying to contact DCLeaks and arrange for a way to speak through encrypted emails.

9/19/16: GRU staged the stolen Podesta emails for transfer to WikiLeaks

9/20/16: Dcleaks and WikiLeaks resumed communications in a brief exchange. 9/22/16: dcleaksproject@gmail.com emailed WikiLeaks containing a PGP-encrypted message with the file "wiki_mail.txt.gpg." 9/22/16: @dcleaks wrote to @WikiLeaks [Blacked Out - IT]
A WikiLeaks Associate Andrew-Muller-Maguhn was implicated in the transfer of the stolen documents

10/x/16: WikiLeaks site also released PDFs and other documents taken from Podesta that were attachments to emails in his account.

10/7/16: WikiLeaks released the first stolen emails from the Podesta email account.

10/7/16-11/7/16: WikiLeaks released 33 tranches of stolen emails. In total, WikiLeaks released over 50,000 documents stolen from Podesta's personal email account, including private speeches given by Clinton; internal communications between Podesta and other high-ranking members of the Clinton Campaign; and correspondence related to the Clinton Foundation. (3/19/19 podesta email account was compromised)

WikiLeaks Statements Dissembling About the Source of Stolen Materials

WikiLeaks and Assange made several public statements apparently designed to obscure the source
of the materials that WikiLeaks was releasing which was discredited by the Evidence [file transfer evidence and other by the Investigation].
---- 7/x/16: WikiLeaks made Implied False Statements About Seth Rich as the source [who was a former DNC staff member and who was murdered in 7/x/16]:
8/9/16 @WikiLeaks posted: WikiLeaks has decided to reward for information [if] leading to conviction for the murder ofDNC staffer Seth Rich."
8/x/16 when interviewed by media: "If there's someone who's potentially connected to our publication, and that person has been murdered in suspicious circumstances. ........But it is a very serious matter ... that type of allegation is very serious, as it's taken very seriously by us."

(regarding WikiLeaks Release of The Hacked Material)

[Hong Gan's Notes On This Section] this area of the Mueller Report was heavily redacted. But its content indicate Loose Collusion or even Collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia GRU intelligence agency through Assange and Roger Stone. In order to support the notion of Loose Collusion, external information other than from Mueller Report is going to be introduced in this post, [starting with Roger Stone and Gerome Corsi's indictment court filing]. But I only would extract factual information and would not apply the terms used in those sources. One example of this is the term 'Conspiracy' found in this reference that is clearly different from the Criminal Definition of Conspiracy Mueller discussed and defined. To avoid confusion, I would stick to the terms and notions I had explained in the comment in the post I wrote.

As regard to the content in this area of the Mueller report, I followed the exact sequence from the Mueller Report, specifying wherever the [Black Out - Redacted] content occurred and would avoid reorganizing, rephrasing, and rewording his text.

Another relevant question is - I believed this area of the Mueller Report was the other Application for Campaign Finance Statute Violation Mueller analyzed, but almost all contents were redacted. No information could be drawn. [Mueller applied Campaign Finance Statutes on The 6/9/16 Meeting - reviewed in this post.] The majority of the redaction on Campaign Finance Statutes Application and on this Sub-Section are HOM (Harmful to Ongoing Matters). This might suggest Roger Stone. Both Corsi and Malloch are related to Roger Stone.

Donald Trump Jr. Interaction with WikiLeaks

9/20/16: Jason Fishbein sent WikiLeaks the password 'putintrump' - for an unlaunched anti-Trump website - PutinTrump.org -. WikiLeaks publicly tweeted: "'Let's bomb Iraq' Progress for America PAC to launch "PutinTrump.org'. Then WikiLeaks sent a Twitter direct message (DM) to Donald Trump Jr.,"A PAC run anti-Trump site putintrump.org is about to launch. The PAC is a recycled pro-Iraq war PAC. We have guessed the password. It is 'putintrump.' See 'About' for who is behind it. Any comments ?". [Trump Jr. emailed a variety of senior campaign staff afterwards]
10/3/16: WikiLeaks sent another DM to Trump Jr., asking "you guys" to help disseminate a link alleging candidate Clinton had advocated using a drone to target Julian Assange. Trump Jr. responded that he already "had done so," and asked, "what's behind this Wednesday leak [10/7/16 release of Podesta emails]I keep reading about?"\

10/12/16: WikiLeaks wrote and suggest that Trump to tweet the link - wlsearch.tk. - which would help Trump in "digging through" leaked emails; and stated that "we just released Podesta emails Part 4.". 10/x/16 Trump Jr. publicly tweeted the wlsearch.tk link.

Jerome Corsi's Indictment Court Filing [external to Mueller Report]

According to Wikipedia on Jerome Corsi and Corsi's indictment court document (11/13/18) showed that months before WikiLeaks released emails stolen from the Clinton campaign, Corsi sent emails to Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone informing him that WikiLeaks was going to publish the emails in July and October, giving dates of the planned releases and that the "impact planned" would be "very damaging." Stone also sent Corsi an email directing him to contact Julian Assange "and get the pending (WikiLeaks) emails." Corsi told Mueller's investigators he ignored the direction, but investigators found he had passed it to an associate in London, whom Corsi later identified as Ted Malloch, who had worked with the Trump campaign and been questioned by Mueller's investigators in April 2018.

Person 1 [in the court document was an associate who was in regular contact with senior members of the Trump Campaign) asked CORSI to get in
touch with Organization 1 [WikiLeaks] about materials [Clinton emails/DNC emails/Podesta emails]it possessed relevant to the presidential campaign that had not already been released. CORSI contacted an individual who resided in London, England (“overseas individual”) to pass
on Person 1’s request to learn about materials in Organization 1’s [WikiLeaks] possession that could be relevant to the presidential campaign. Corsi thereafter told Person 1 that Organization 1 possessed information that would be damaging to then-candidate Hillary Clinton and that Organization 1 planned to release damaging information in October. Corsi' email exchanges with person 1 was intercepted by Mueller Office.

• 7/25/16 : Person 1 [Roger Stone] sent an email to CORSI with the subject line, “Get to [the founder of Organization 1]{that was Assange}.” [content of the email] “Get to [the founder of Organization 1] [a]t Ecuadorian Embassy in London and get the pending [Organization 1] emails . . . they deal with Foundation, allegedly.”. CORSI forwarded Person 1’s email to the overseas individual [Ted Malloch].
• 7/31/16: Person 1 emailed CORSI with the subject line, “Call me MON.” The body of the email read in part that the overseas individual “should see [the founder of Organization 1].
• 8/3/16:  CORSI responded to Person 1 by email. CORSI wrote that he was currently in Europe and planned to return in
  mid-August. CORSI stated: “Word is friend in embassy plans more dumps. One shortly after I’m back. 2nd in Oct. Impact planned to be
  very damaging.… Time to let more than [the Clinton Campaign chairman] to be exposed as in bed w enemy if they are not ready to drop
  HRC [Hillary Rodham Clinton]. That appears to be the game hackers are now about. Would not hurt to start suggesting HRC old, memory
  bad, has stroke -- neither he nor she well. I expect that much of next dump focus, setting stage for Foundation debacle.”

Corsi attempted to destroy email evidences, according to the court document. Between approximately 1/13/17 and 3/1/17, CORSI deleted from
his computer all email correspondence that predated 10/11/16 [Hong Gan's note: that was shortly after the 10/7/16 release of Podesta emails] including Person 1’s email instructing CORSI to “get to [the founder of Organization 1]” and CORSI’s subsequent forwarding
of that email to the overseas individual.

Roger Stone's Indictment [external to Mueller Report]

Roger Stone was indicted [court document] for multiple federal crimes and indictment alleges that Mr. Stone discussed future WikiLeaks e-mail releases with the Trump campaign.

During the summer of 2016, STONE spoke to senior Trump Campaign officials [name unknown] about Organization 1 [WikiLeaks] and information it might have had that would be damaging to the Clinton Campaign. STONE was contacted by senior Trump Campaign officials to inquire about future releases by Organization 1.

By in or around early August Election year, STONE was claiming both publicly and privately to have communicated with Organization 1. By in or around mid-August Election year, Organization 1 made a public statement denying direct communication with STONE. Thereafter, STONE said that his communication with Organization 1 had occurred through a person STONE described as a “mutual friend,” “go-between,” and “intermediary.” [Radio host Randy Credico] STONE also continued to communicate with members of the Trump Campaign about Organization 1 and its intended future releases.

Person 1 [Jerome Corsi] spoke regularly with STONE throughout the campaign, including about the release of stolen documents by Organization 1.

Radio host Randy Credico was the intermediary between Roger Stone and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange during the Election year. In a follow-up letter to HPSCI dated 10/13/17, Stone identified Randy Credico was the “gentleman who confirmed for Mr. Stone” that the head of Organization 1 [Assange] had “‘[e]mails related to Hillary Clinton which are pending publication.’”

Next details Roger Stone's communication with Assange/WikiLeaks directly or indirectly through Randy Credico leading to the 10/7/16 release of Podesta emails

• June or July: STONE informed senior Trump Campaign officials that he had information indicating Organization 1 had documents whose release would be damaging to the Clinton Campaign.
• After 7/22/16 [WikiLeaks'release of DNC emails]: a senior Trump Campaign official was directed to contact STONE about any additional releases and what other damaging information Organization 1 had regarding the Clinton Campaign. STONE thereafter told the Trump Campaign about potential future releases of damaging material by Organization 1.
• 7/25/16: Stone emailed Corsi [same as in the Corsi's indictment]
• 7/31/16: Stone emailed Corsi [same as in the Corsi's indictment]
• 8/3/16: Corsi emailed Stone [same as in the Corsi's indictment]
• 8/8/16: STONE attended a public event at which he stated, “I actually have communicated with [the head of Organization 1]. I believe the next tranche of his documents pertain to the Clinton Foundation, but there’s no telling what the October surprise may be.”
• 8/12/16: STONE stated during an interview that he was “in communication with [the head of Organization 1]” but was “not at liberty to discuss what I have.”
• 8/16/16: STONE stated during an interview that “it became known on this program that I have had some back-channel communication with
  [Organization 1]{WikiLeaks} and [the head of Organization 1]{Assange}.” In a second interview on or about the same day, STONE stated that he “communicated with [the head of Organization 1]” and that they had a “mutual acquaintance who is a fine gentleman [Randy Credico] .”
• 8/18/16: STONE stated during a television interview that he had communicated with the head of Organization 1 through an “intermediary,
  somebody who is a mutual friend.”
• 8/23/16: Randy Credico asked STONE during a radio interview, “You’ve been in touch indirectly with [the head of Organization 1]. . . . Can you give us any kind of insight? Is there an October surprise happening?” STONE responded, “Well, first of all, I don’t want to intimate in any way that I control or have influence with [the head of Organization 1] because I do not. . . . We have a mutual friend, somebody we both trust and therefore I am a recipient of pretty good information.”
• 8/19/16 Randy Credico sent a text message to STONE that read in part, “I’m going to have [the head of Organization 1] on my show next Thursday.” Then on 8/21/16, he sent another text message to STONE, writing in part, “I have [the head of Organization 1] on Thursday so I’m completely tied up on that day.”
• 8/25/16: the head of Organization 1 was a guest on Randy Credico's radio show for the first time. Then on 8/26/16: Randy Credico sent a text message to STONE that stated, “[the head of Organization 1] talk[ed] about you." “He didn’t say anything bad we were talking about how the Press is trying to make it look like you and he are in cahoots last night.” Then the next day, Randy Credico sent text messages to Stone that said, “He [Randy Credico] was in charge” of the project. In a text message Randy Credico sent later that day, “[The head of Organization 1] has kryptonite on Hillary.”
• 9/18/16: STONE sent a text message to Randy Credico's that said, “I am e-mailing u a request to pass on to [the head of Organization 1].” Randy Credico responded - “[j]ust remember do not name me as your connection to [the head of Organization 1] you had one before that you referred to.” On or about the same day, STONE emailed an article with allegations against then-candidate Clinton related to her service as Secretary of State. STONE stated, “Please ask [the head of Organization 1] for any State or HRC e-mail from 8/10/18 to 8/3016 —particularly on 8/20/20 that mention [the subject of the article] or confirm this narrative.”
• 9/19/16: STONE texted Randy Credico again, writing, “Pass my message . . . to [the head of Organization 1].” Randy Credico responded, “I did.” On 9/20/16 Randy Credico forwarded the request to a friend who was an attorney with the ability to contact the head of Organization 1. Randy Credico blind copied STONE on the forwarded email.
• 9/30/16: Randy Credico sent STONE via text message a photograph of himself standing outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London where
  the head of Organization 1 was located.
• 10/1/16: Randy Credico sent STONE text messages that stated, “big news Wednesday . . . now pretend u don’t know me . . . Hillary’s campaign will die this week.” In the days preceding these messages, the press had reported that the head of Organization 1 planned to make a public announcement on or about Tuesday (10/4/16, which was reported to be the ten-year anniversary of the founding of Organization 1
• 10/3/16: STONE emailed Randy Credico, with the subject line “WTF?,” a link to an article reporting that Organization 1 was canceling its “highly anticipated Tuesday announcement due to security concerns.” Randy Credico responded to STONE, “head fake.”
• 10/3/16 (about the same day): STONE texted Randy Credico and asked, “Did [the head of Organization 1] back off.” Randy Credico initially responded, “I can’t tal[k] about it.” After further exchanges with STONE, Randy Credico said, “I think it[’]s on for tomorrow.” Randy Credico added later that day, “Off the Record Hillary and her people are doing a full-court press they [sic] keep [the head of Organization 1] from making the next dump . . . That’s all I can tell you on this line . . . Please leave my name out of it.”
• 10/3/16: STONE wrote to a supporter involved with the Trump Campaign, “Spoke to my friend in London last night. The payload is still coming.” on the same day: STONE received an email from a reporter who had connections to a high-ranking Trump Campaign official that asked, “[the head of Organization 1] – what’s he got? Hope it’s good.” STONE responded in part, “It is. I’d tell [the high-ranking Trump Campaign official] but he doesn’t call me back.”
• 10/4/16: the head of Organization 1 held a press conference but did not release any new materials pertaining to the Clinton Campaign. Shortly afterwards, STONE received an email from the high-ranking Trump Campaign official asking about the status of future releases by Organization 1. STONE answered that the head of Organization 1 had a “[s]erious security concern” but that Organization 1 would release “a load every week going forward.”
• Later that day, on or about 10/4/16, the supporter involved with the Trump Campaign asked STONE via text message if he had “hear[d] anymore from London.” STONE replied, “Yes - want to talk on a secure line - got Whatsapp?” STONE subsequently told the supporter that more material would be released and that it would be damaging to the Clinton Campaign.
• 10/7/16: Organization 1 released the first set of emails stolen from the Clinton Campaign chairman. Shortly after Organization 1’s release, an associate of the high-ranking Trump Campaign official sent a text message to STONE that read “well done.” In subsequent conversations with senior Trump Campaign officials, STONE claimed credit for having correctly predicted the October 7, 2016 release.

Roger Stone Was Convicted of Lying about WikiLeaks
11/15/16 Roger Stone was convicted of all counts including lying to Congress about his pursuit of Russian-hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s election bid. Throughout the trial, prosecutors used Stone’s own text messages and emails — some of which appeared to contradict his congressional testimony — to lay out their case that he lied to Congress and threatened a witness.

Trump's 'Praise' on WikiLeaks (information from Mueller Testimony)

It is a matter of public record that Michael Cohen testified to Congress under oath that “Mr. Trump knew from Roger Stone in advance about the WikiLeaks dump.”

According to Deputy Campaign Manager Rick Gates, in the summer of Election year, he and Candidate Trump were on the way to the airport shortly after WikiLeaks released its first set of stolen e-mails. And Gates told the Office (Mueller's Office) that Candidate Trump was on a phone call, and when the call ended, Trump told Gates that “more releases of damaging information would be coming". “In addition some witnesses said that Trump privately sought information about future WikiLeaks releases.” . However, Trump denied ever discussing WikiLeaks with Mr. Stone and denied being aware that anyone associated with this campaign discussed WikiLeaks with Stone (see written answer next). Numerous times during the campaign the president praised the releases of the Russian-hacked emails through WikiLeaks. “This just came out... WikiLeaks. I love WikiLeaks,” Donald Trump [10/10/16] “This WikiLeaks stuff is unbelievable. It tells you the inner heart, you gotta read it,” Donald Trump, [10/12/16]. “This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove,” Donald Trump 10/31/16. “Boy, I love reading those WikiLeaks,” Donald Trump [11/4/16]

Trump Campaign Devised Strategy in Messaging Around WikiLeaks Releases

Other Potential Campaign Interest in Russian Hacked Materials

Throughout election year, the Trump Campaign expressed interest in Hillary Clinton's private email server and whether - as reported by media - approximately 30,000 emails from that server had in fact been permanently destroyed. Individuals associated with the Campaign were contacted about various efforts to obtain the missing Clinton emails and other stolen material,. The Office did not find evidence that the Trump Campaign recovered any such Clinton emails.

Henry Oknyansky (a/k/a Henry Greenberg)

3/x/16 or 4/x/16: Michael Caputo [Trump Campaign advisor]learned through a Florida-based Russian business partner that Henry Oknyansky [another Florida-based Russian] claimed to have information pertaining to Hillary Clinton.
Caputo notified Roger Stone and brokered communication between Stone and Oknyansky
5/x/16 Oknyansky and Stone set up in-person meeting; Alexei Rasina [Ukrainian associate involved in Florida real estate]attended the meeting. Rasin offered to sell Stone derogatory information on Clinton that Rasin claimed to have obtained while working for Clinton. Rasin claimed to possess financial statements demonstrating Clinton's involvement in money laundering with Rasin's companies. Stone asked about the price and refused the offer. Oknyansky claimed to the Office that Rasin's motivation was financial. Oknyansky and Caputo had contradictory recollections about the meeting. The Office found no evidence that Rasin worked for Clinton or any Clinton-related entities. The Office did not determine the content and origin of the information Rasina offered.
